Don Ramon Restaurant, a perennial favorite among South Floridians with a taste for authentic Cuban cuisine, will open its fourth location in November at 300 Clematis Street in Downtown West Palm Beach. Adding another delicious addition to Downtown’s extensive menu of internationally themed restaurants, the 5,600-sq.-ft, two-story eatery will offer the affordable, family-friendly meals that has made it famous in a hip atmosphere reflective of Downtown’s lively nightlife scene.
A major draw of the new location is sure to be the walk-up window, which will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 3 a.m., offering everything from breakfast pastries and café con leche to hearty sandwiches and quick bites through late night.
“We have been looking for the right location Downtown for years and we’re confident we’ve now found the perfect spot to serve up the best Cuban dishes in South Florida,” said Jose Vilarino, whose father and uncle opened the family’s first Cuban restaurant in 1984 and now own 15 Cuban restaurants in Broward and Dade counties. “Our focus always has been and remains to serve traditional dishes in a comfortable setting that appeals to families. That won’t change, but we’ll add the lively Downtown vibe, and offer dishes and cocktails reflective of our new neighborhood. Look for lunch specials for business professionals, and a larger bar area to serve up happy hour and nighttime specials.”
Open every day for lunch and dinner through the late night, Dan Ramon will offer affordable Cuban sandwiches, soups and entrees including pollo asado (roasted chicken), palomilla (pounded Cuban-style steak), ropa vieja (shredded meat cooked in tomato base sauce), filete de cherna (fried grouper filet) and more. The restaurant, which can seat up to 150 people, will also feature a full bar, including fresh-made sangria and mojitos.
The interior will evoke a colonial Spanish atmosphere, with appointments including barrel tiles on the ceiling and veranda, Mexican tile and faux-finished walls in earth tones.
Vilarino’s other Don Ramon restaurants are located at 502 S Military Trail in West Palm Beach; 11924 W. Forest Hill Blvd. in Wellington and 2220 SE Ocean Blvd. in Stuart. This location will replace another Don Ramon in Northwood, currently located at 535 25th St.
