The newly formed West Palm Beach Downtown Neighborhood Association (WPB-DNA) will host an open forum for the candidates running for District Three City Commissioner on June 3 at 6:00 p.m. at the office of the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches, located at 401 North Flagler Drive in Downtown West Palm Beach. The event is open to the public.
During the forum, candidates Kimberly Mitchell, Gregg Weiss and Rebecca Young will first answer questions by a moderator and a panel of three downtown residents and business owners, and then by those in attendance. The election is June 24.
“It’s vital that residents hear first-hand the positions and opinions of these candidates since one will be elected to serve our Downtown District and work on our behalf,” said Tim Harris, president of the WPB-DNA. “This is just one of many initiatives by the DNA to engage and educate Downtown residents and address their ongoing needs.”
The WPB-DNA was formed in 2007 in cooperation with the West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) to act as a voice on behalf of the more than 7,000 residents living in Downtown West Palm Beach. Led by a nine-panel executive committee, the non-profit organization serves to advise residents of current downtown development and activities; communicate the needs of residents to government officials and agencies; sponsor and support educational lectures, public forums and workshops; encourage residents to become active in the community; and promote neighborhood beautification and the distinctive character of the area.
