Downtown Artist Ralf Gschwend's Kinetic Art Sculpture Featured at the Beijing Olympics

Ralf Gschwend, the owner of the Galleria International Building in Downtown West Palm Beach, prominent community leader, internationally acclaimed artist as well as the president and founder of the Kinetic Art Organization, has been chosen to feature his kinetic sculpture, "Dance With the Wind" at the Olympic Games in Bejing, China.

In October 2007, the Committee of "Art & Dream for the Beijing Olympics" and the China Sculpture Institute, selected Ralfonso as one of the 19 invited international Master Artists to create the 10m, 30 ft with base kinetic sculpture "Dance With The Wind" for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, where it is permanently installed in the Olympic Park.

"Dance with the Wind" is a 7 meter tall kinetic, wind driven sculpture, designed for the outdoors, where "she" literally dances with the wind. Five articulated and independent rings and ball elements allow this self balancing sculpture to interact with the wind, in a swaying, ever-changing rhythm. As the wind pushes on the ring elements, they begin to tilt away from the wind, only to swing back by the weight of the connected ball. The back and forth motion, at different degrees and speeds for all the 5 separate elements, shows the sculpture dancing in the wind in a graceful swinging motion. The sculpture is made out of marine grade stainless stell, which is polished to a mirror like finish.
